Are you trying to launch Battlefield 2042, but it won’t start and shows an error saying:
“Secure Boot is not enabled. Please enable Secure Boot in your BIOS.”
You're not alone. This issue began affecting many players after EA updated its anti-cheat system to require Secure Boot.
Since late 2023, EA’s anti-cheat requires that Secure Boot is enabled on your system for Battlefield 2042 to run. If it’s not enabled (or you're using Legacy BIOS mode), the game will refuse to launch.
Secure Boot is a security feature in your PC’s UEFI/BIOS that only allows signed software to run during startup. It helps prevent cheats and rootkits from injecting at boot level — which is why EA Anti-Cheat now requires it.
1. Press Win + R, type msinfo32, hit Enter.
2. Look for BIOS Mode:
1. Restart your PC.
2. During startup, repeatedly press the key for BIOS (usually Del, F2, F10, or Esc depending on your motherboard).
3. Once in BIOS, look for the Secure Boot setting under the Boot, Security, or Advanced tab.
1. Make sure CSM (Compatibility Support Module) is disabled — Secure Boot won’t activate with CSM on.
2. Set Secure Boot to Enabled.
3. If needed, change OS Type to “Windows UEFI mode.”
4. Save and exit (usually by pressing F10).
After enabling Secure Boot, launch Battlefield 2042 again. The error should be gone, and the anti-cheat will now load properly.
