Rebuild the Bison Steve Hotel and Lucky Casino from an empty structure to the Grand Opening and get a cut of the profit, two great player home options, unique weapons and armor and your own personal vendor. You'll restore law and order to a
Welcome to The New Bison Steve Hotel & Lucky Casino mod for Fallout: New Vegas!
Have you ever thought how disappointing it was that the Bison Steve Hotel was just left to crumble into the annals of history? Ever thought it would make a cool location to rebuild? Well, that's exactly what this mod does, one step at a time!
But it doesn't stop there! Not only is The New Bison Steve Hotel & Lucky Casino quest a complete makeover of The Bison Steve Hotel, it also includes "Buck's Place", a beautiful, high-tech player home with all the cool features we have grown to love.
Bucks Place also features its own special "Bucks" Bobbleheads scattered across the Mojave for you to hunt down, along with a massive display room perfect for mannequins and showcasing your unique weapons and collectibles. You even get your own personal vendor who can repair your gear for a fee and sell you items.
Download with confidence! This mod has been meticulously error-checked and thoroughly cleaned with FNVEdit!!!
To start the quest, head to the Vikki and Vance Casino and ask Johnson Nash about The Bison Steve Hotel. Alternatively, find "Steve," the grandson of the "Old Laurie" Johnson Nash mentioned—he's holed up in the Vikki and Vance with the other townsfolk. They'll be happy to point you in the right direction.
During your journey, you'll restore law and order to a town, help a struggling artist find his spark, and battle Fiends, Ghouls, and escaped convicts. You'll even trade barbs with a cranky old bastard along the way. You'll learn about Texas "Buck" Brunson, the Mojave's greatest high-stakes poker player, and get a little help from his niece, Anna. You can even use his beautiful house and display room if you like. All in all, I think it's a pretty fun quest and story!
Each phase of construction will require you to gather the materials and supplies needed to complete that part of the project. You'll need to acquire everything from lighting fixtures for the casino and booths for the Steak House, to general supplies like booze, food, and even The Lucky Casino’s custom gaming equipment! There are also over 30 pieces of custom artwork.
Watch each stage of construction come to life as your efforts pay off—every item you secure and quest you complete brings the vision closer. (Don’t forget to stop by and check your progress along the way!)
NOTE: This is a quest mod, not a combat mod.
only This mod focuses on role-playing, earning a stake in your own casino, and the story, just as much as it focuses on combat. It was designed with a brand new character in mind—one working their way up from around level 2 or 3—not for a level 30 demigod who’s practically invincible.
If you follow the main vanilla quest from Goodsprings (around levels 1 to 3), you're directed to Primm — that's where my quest was meant to start. That's not to say you can't take it on at any level, because you can. But for me, clearing out all the convicts who've taken over the old Bison is pretty challenging and fun at level 2 or 3, with just a crappy 9mm pistol, a Varmint Rifle, and at best, weak leather armor. (Unless you're using modded stuff early on.) Maybe I just suck as a gamer, but I don't find that part "too easy" when played with the gear the vanilla game gives you. Likewise, I don't find clearing out Vault 3 at those early levels especially easy either. There are a LOT of Fiends in there, and a boss at the end.

NEW USERS: If you have not played this mod before, install the V107 Master File using the mod manager, or install it manually.
CURRENT USERS: First, before doing anything, make a NEW HARD save! I'm NOT responsible if you mess up your game because you didn't save! If you uninstall any earlier version, you must replace it with V107 PLUGIN VERSION (NOT the Master File Version), or you will LOSE ALL PROGRESS AND ANY GEAR STORED IN CONTAINERS ADDED BY THIS MOD!!!
UPDATING TO V107 WITH QUESTS COMPLETED: If you have completed all the quests and Steve is in the new hotel, you'll need to remove all the old files and either use the NMM to update or download manually and install yourself. Make a NEW HARD save and remove the following directories or files, then install V107 Plugin Version:
...\Data\Meshes\Bucks
...\Data\Textures\Bucks
...\Data\Sound\Voice\The New Bison Steve Hotel.esp
...\Data\The New Bison Steve Hotel.esp
Once the mod is correctly installed, you'll have the following 2 files in your Data folder:
...\Data\The New Bison Steve Hotel.esp (or .esm if you installed the master file version)
...\Data\The New Bison Steve Hotel.bsa
UPDATING TO V107 WITH QUESTS ONGOING: First, I highly recommend if you're fairly early in the quest, simply start over by uninstalling the mod, load your game and make a new hard save and reinstall V107 Master Version. However, if you don't want to or can't do that, we may have to use the console to get you going. This is necessary due to the new quest mechanics I implemented in this update. But don't worry, once you're up and running again, you'll be good to go! If at all possible, update just before you pick up one of the quest items you have to go get.
For example, if your current mission is "Find Motor-Runners Vault Briefcase in Vault 3," simply update to V107, complete that objective, and everything should proceed normally. If you update right before speaking to Steve, Anna, or Slim, their dialogue may fail to trigger due to the new conditions I've set. In that case, I recommend sticking with your current version until your objective is to pick up either the blueprints, Motor-Runners briefcase, grills, or casino supplies. Once one of those becomes your current objective, save your game, uninstall your old version, and update to the V107 PLUGIN VERSION.
For your convenience, I have uploaded a
quest stages list and their accompanying objectives. However, I HIGHLY advise that you post in my comments thread and ask before you start setting stages unless you're absolutely certain you know what you're doing. I am NOT responsible for your game if you screw something up by setting the wrong stage! So before you do anything, please ask me and I'll help you! And PLEASE make a new hard save before doing ANYTHING!
Q - I can’t finish the quest to take photos for Michael Angelo, or the quest won’t update after taking them.
A - The Classic Inspiration quest must be successfully completed. Enter the following 2 codes into the console one at a time and verify the status of each:
sqv 00112577
That is the Classic Inspiration quest. If you completed it correctly, you should be at stage 90.
To check my Grand Opening quest, put this in:
sqv XX01bcd0
The XX is the numerical slot my mod occupies in your load order. This quest should be at stage 50. If it is not, set it to 50 like this:
SetStage XX01bcd0 50
Once Classic Inspiration reaches stage 90 and Grand Opening reaches stage 50, go talk to Steve — he should have some dialogue for you.
The XX represents the numerical position of my quest in your load order. To find it, approach Steve, open the console, and click on him. The first two digits or letters of his RefID are what you replace XX with.
Q - Do you have a list of all the Bobblehead locations?A - Yes, I sure do!
(Click Here)Q - Do you have a list of the new quest stages?
A - Yes, I sure do!
(Click Here) I HIGHLY advise you to post in my comment thread before setting a stage, unless you're absolutely sure you know what you're doing! And for goodness' sake, make a new hard save before using the console. I'm NOT responsible for your messed-up quest if you fail to follow these common-sense suggestions!
Q - What is that switch up by the roller-coaster for? This switch will let you toggle a new door I added into the new hotel rooms on or off. I originally left the door in its vanilla state, so entering it would take you back into the old vanilla second‑floor rooms. That was intentional — I didn’t want to lock players out of the cell and force them to use the console to coc back in. There’s a unique weapon as well as something very SPECIAL that Buck left in the vanilla cell, so I wanted players to have a way to go back if they missed those items on their first visit. Hopefully, this clears up any confusion about that door.
Q - Why is there a "Population Control" switch in Steve's office?A - This turns some of the generic gamblers in the hotel and casino on or off. This feature was added at the request of players experiencing lag due to the number of NPCs in the area. It affects 8 NPCs in total.
