PEAK isn’t just about climbing—it’s also about surviving. Along your journey, you’ll encounter a variety of monsters and enemies that can quickly turn the climb into a fight for your life. Whether it’s a deadly chase or a slow drain on your stamina, these threats are just as challenging as the terrain itself. This guide covers every known enemy in PEAK, what they do, and how you can survive them.

Are There Monsters in PEAK?

Yes, PEAK isn't just about challenging terrain and survival mechanics—players also face unique creatures known as monsters. These hostile entities add another level of complexity, demanding strategic gameplay, resource management, and careful teamwork to overcome.

All Monsters in Game PEAK

Scoutmaster

A towering, gaunt skeletal creature with elongated limbs—PEAK’s most dangerous entity.

  • What they do: A lanky, skeletal giant that spawns when someone blows the rare Scoutmaster’s Bugle in solo play, or when co-op partners get too far apart. It locks onto the player who triggered it and sprints after them for roughly 60 seconds.
  • How to Survive:  You can’t kill it, only outrun it. Sprint downhill and leap off ledges to slow it down. If you last the full minute you’ll earn the Mentorship Badge and the Inverted Eyes cosmetic.

Bees

Swarming guardians protecting beehives in the Tropics biome, which can poison you on contact.

  • What they do: Swarm defenders of honeycombs in the Tropics. Disturb a hive and the cloud chases you at erratic speeds, stinging and applying poison.
  • How to Survive:  Don’t fight—kite. Lead the swarm in big circles or into open terrain while teammates loot the hive. Never attempt a climb while bees are on you.

Tick

Tiny parasites that burrow into your leg to slowly poison stamina.

  • What they do: Tiny parasites that latch onto your leg and stack poison, draining stamina over time. In co-op the tick is visible; in solo you’ll notice a stamina dip and see swelling.
  • How to Survive:  Co-op: a teammate can press E to yank it out. Solo: crouch to remove it yourself. Popped ticks count as edible “berries,” contributing to the Foraging Bond achievement.

Sea Urchins

Spiny creatures found in Shore biome; instantly inflict poison on contact.

  • What they do: Spiny hazards along shorelines that poison instantly on contact.
  • How to Survive:  Give them a wide berth. If you do step on one, stand still until the poison wears off—moving or falling makes the damage worse.

Jellyfish

Non-poisonous aquatic creatures in shallow waters that cause you to slip when stepped on .

  • What they do: Slippery blobs in shallow water. They aren’t poisonous, but stepping on one triggers a slip animation that can send you off nearby cliffs.
  • How to Survive:  Slow down in water passages and watch your footing. If you must cross, stick to rock outcrops or swim around them instead of walking.
